NC Leadership Strongly Encourages PSO Participation
NC Hospital Association Board of Trustees
On January 16th the NCHA Board of Trustees adopted a resolution to encourage all North Carolina hospitals to join the NC Quality Center PSO or another federally listed Patient Safety Organization; and if the hospital joins a PSO other than the NC Quality Center, to allow the sharing of data with the NC Quality Center PSO. NCHA leadership asks NC hospitals to become members of a PSO by July 1, 2010.
Governor Beverly Perdue
In her presentation to the NCHA membership at the NCHA winter meeting February 18th, Governor Beverly Perdue encouraged hospitals to join a PSO. "By doing so you would fuel the identification and reduction of patient care risks. In exchange you will be kept up-to-date on what PSO members are learning from each other about preventing patient safety events, have a forum in which to share what you have learned internally and demonstrate to insurers, payers, employers and the public your desire to improve patient safety and healthcare quality," stated the Governor.
