It’s A Game Changer: Overcoming Action Planning Challenges One Day Workshop

The National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) recently released RCA2 Improving Root Cause Analysis and Actions To Prevent Harm. These guidelines have been called a “game changer,” in part due to their deep focus on action planning. Studies suggest that collectively, healthcare workers experience significant difficulty in generating and implementing risk reduction strategies; and some of the most popular risk control strategies (training & education) have limited impact!

This full day workshop will explore a variety of tools for conducting an event review and will focus on methods to strengthen action planning and risk reduction strategies. Participants will be introduced to a structured approach to action planning through use of the Active Risk Control (ARC) Toolkit designed and presented by Dr. Alan Card. Next they will apply the toolkit to a patient safety event and explore practical applications in their organization. The workshop also includes two follow up webinars.
